Jewellery

It’s the start of a new and exciting summer season for all of us in Bermuda. We are very happy to be hosting The America’s Cup Races and it has been fun getting to know some of the sailors and crew from these amazing boats. While not watching them practice I have been busy in my workshop creating lots of new pieces. I introduced my pink sand “Beach Collection” and my “Bermuda Blue Collection” last year and over the winter I have produced several more designs for both. This year I am also introducing a new section on my website “Selected Original Designs”. If you scroll past the Charm sections you will find pieces inspired by whatever takes my fancy...from the full moon to a twig in my garden or one of my grandmother’s old buttons.

Beach Collection

"You may not always have pink Bermuda sand between your toes but you can always have some to wear."

Bermuda's beaches get their lovely colour from tiny organisms called foram which grow abundantly on the reefs. Their calcium carbonate shells vary in colour from pale shell pink to a deep sunset red. When the foram die their shells are swept off the reef by the waves and onto the beaches where they are crushed and mixed into the sand to create some of the prettiest beaches in the world.
I have mixed some of our beautiful pink sand with crystal clear jeweller's epoxy resin and set it into my own unique sterling silver mounts to create this collection. Available online and at Brown & Co., Front Street, Hamilton.

Bermuda Blue Collection

I have taken my ideas a step further and hand coloured some of the resin to create the Bermuda Blue line of jewellery. Available online and at The Bermuda Craft Market, Dockyard, Bermuda.
